Ascalon, Judaea. AE 11, 2.46g. Ascalon, Judaea, 1st century BC. Obv: Bearded male head right (Herakles?). Rx: Crossed cornucopias, ear of grain between them, below A - Σ. Not listed in BM, Rosenberger, Meshorer, or Yashin. VF.

Ex Dr. Stephen Gerson Collection.

RPC 4876 and other references list a similar coin type, but with a beardless male bust, generally thought to be Augustus. Our type, unlisted in major references, appears to show a different personage, perhaps Herakcles.
